What Should You Check After Land Clearing?
Walk the agreed edge
Use your marked sketch from the estimate. Begin at a recognizable corner and follow the opening, including any tree islands and narrow access strips. If a patch was left for a reason, record where it is and what needs to happen before more work is possible.
Look at the surface your next task needs
A path can look open from the gate while cut stems still interfere with mowing. A mulched building footprint can look tidy while roots remain beneath it. Compare what you see with the agreed finish. Ask the next contractor to confirm any remaining preparation that belongs to their work.
Close out the wood and the access
Check whether the contract calls for wood to remain as mulch, be stacked or be hauled. Look at the agreed loading and entry areas as well as the clearing itself. Record any remaining piles or follow-up items with a dated photo and a description agreed by both parties.
Plan the rest of your clearing project.
